Talk Time Tuesday and some Winners~

Hello my friends!
Have you ever been sick and thought that you would NEVER get rid of it and feel better? That has been me since last Thursday! Uggg...Between not feeling good and all the medication I take, I have been completely knocked out for most of the last couple of days. I hope to shake this nasty bug off soon. I don't like not feeling good. Always a bummer. Before I get on to today's Ask Jo Q&A, I want to announce the winners from last week's Sketch challenge.
Our top 3 are.....

# 2 Carri-Abusybee
# 6 Dawn-Designs by Dragonfly
# 7 Laurie
And now our winner of the Bugaboo 7 digi stamps package is....

Congratulations ladies!
Please email me at:
Joann6274 at gmail dot com to get your prizes! You will have 2 weeks to claim your prize.

Okay now on to our Ask Jo Q&A:

Our first question comes from Melissa S. who asks, "I am really enjoying your Tuesday Talks very much. How many questions do you get in a week for your talks?

Hi Melissa!
I am so glad that you are enjoying the Ask Jo segment on our Talk Time Tuesdays. Unfortunately, I am not getting in nearly enough questions anymore. When I first started this, I was getting in probably 7-10 questions a week, now? Not so much. I am saddened to say that this segment may be something I have to do away with. I cannot keep it going if I do not have the help and support from all of you to keep it up and running. If you all do not want to see this part of my blog go away, then please, PLEASE send in your questions. They do not have to be craft related at all. Just send them in!
Thank you Melissa for your question hun.

Our second question today comes from Brenda L. who asks, "Jo, how do you know how much to charge for mini's albums and word books and such??? I often get asked about these things too, but never know what to charge. How much do you charge for cards too?"

Hello Brenda!
This is a good question but its a tough one. At first I had no clue what to charge and sometimes with certain requests or special orders, I still sometimes struggle with how much to charge. But here is my thing...I enjoy doing what I do...and I enjoy being able to create something beautiful for someone else who may not be able to do it or may not have the time to do it and so they come to me. I do not try to make a ton of money off of it. I try to charge for the supplies and my time. I look to just get the money back for the supplies for the most part,  so that I can purchase more product to continue filling orders.I believe that I am reasonable with my pricing but it really does depend on what type of project I am doing and how much supplies I use and how long I work on completing it from start to finish. What takes me the longest are the personalized word books. It is time consuming and I do use a good amount of supplies so how I go about charging for this is based off the # of letters and whether or not I am embellishing it or the customer is doing that. To give you somewhat of an idea, I did a wordbook last month that was 8 letters long, "Vacation". This person wanted it fully embellished with the only thing left for her to do was slap the photos in and do some light journaling. I charged her $25. I typically charge $15 for wordbooks up to 6 letters and $25 for anything over that. Plain bare chipboard workbooks sell for anywhere between $9-$12 and they aren't personalized nor embellished.

As for cards, I sell cards in sets. I will do two types of sets, a set of 6 cards and a set of 8. I charge $8 for the set of 6 and $10 for the set of 8. That is less then $1.50 per card. Again though, it depends on the project I am putting together, how much time goes into it, the amount of embellishing, etc. Just use your best judgment when creating to sell and go from there. If customers really enjoy your work and cannot do it themselves because of lack of time or tools or whatever, they will pay you to do it for them especially if you are reasonable and take the time to explain to them how much time and supplies are involved when doing it. If the person is an average paper-crafter then they already have a good idea of how much paper and embellishments cost. So just do your best with it and I wish you lots of luck!
I hope this helps Brenda!

Thanks for the great questions today Melissa and Brenda!
Well my friends that is all I have for today. I hope you have a great day!
Thanks for stopping by and until next time....
Enjoy life's blessings~
