Card for Mom

Hello my sweet friends!
I hope you are having a wonderful Friday! Before I share my card with you today, I wanted to answer a few questions that I have received in my email recently regarding Stampin Up. I guess a few of you were a bit confused on certain things and I want to clarify things up for you. My answers will be highlighted in red.

Hi there Jo! I really would like to know what comes in the Paper Pumpkin Kit and how often I would be charged if I sign up. It sounds so exciting and I would love to give this a try. I just love Stampin' Up's inks and cardstock!!! I think you said that the kits come with ink. Can you tell me what color comes in the kit and will I get the same color inks if I buy the kit each month? Thank you Jo! And great blog you have here. I am so happy that my friend Karen told me about your challenges. I love them!

Marie Leeson

Hello Marie!
I am very happy to hear that you already are familiar with SU's products and that you are enjoying our Funday Friday challenges! Hopefully I can answer all your questions as best as I can. I am new as a demonstrator so I am going to do my best here. Each Paper Pumpkin kit is completely different each month. I cannot tell you exactly what will come in the kit each month as far as specifics, but I can tell you that each kit will have 1 to 2 ink spots (these are the little ink pads), an exclusive stamp set that can only be purchased through buying a Paper Pumpkin subscription, cardstock, designer series papers, twine or ribbon, embellishments and dimensionals. Those are the basics that will almost always come in your kit each month. The only thing you will need to have on hand to create your kit's project(s) is some scissors and some regular adhesive possibly. Each kit will be a project that you can complete from start to finish in 30 minutes or under with even enough leftovers to create a few more little projects. Some of the kits I have seen have been card kits, banner kits, mini album kits and Project Life kits. So the best subscription to go with is the 3 month so that you can see the variety of what comes in the kits from month to month. You will be charged once a month on or about the 12th as the kits ship out at that time. They usually arrive on your doorstep on or about the 15th, keeping in mind that the price you pay for your kit already includes your shipping costs! Ok your next question was wanting to know what color inks come in the kits. Each month will be a different color ink spot and there will NEVER be a duplicate ink spot during a 12 month calendar year. Stampin Up is very good at making sure that you will receive a different color ink spot each month. If you are a monthly subscriber or sign up for the entire year, you will have a beautiful collection of inks by the year's end to add to your collection. :) And I will add this as a little incentive, if you sign up for a prepaid Paper Pumpkin subscription of either 3 months, 6 months or 12 months, we have a little promotion going on right now where you can save 50% off your first 2 months!!! This is only valid from May 12th until June 10th! So if you want to jump aboard and dive in to Paper Pumpkin with me, go HERE and use coupon code SAVE50 to get your 50% off the first 2 months.

Hello Jo. Can you tell me how much it costs to join stamping up? I have wanted to join for awhile now but would like to know the costs before I make that commitment. CJ

Hello CJ!
Awesome that you are thinking about joining Stampin Up!!! I would love to have you join my team if you sign up, just sayin~ :)  You can join Stampin Up for $99. With that price, you will be able to completely customize what you get in your starter kit. That is the best part because you will be able to choose items that YOU will love that fit your style and your favorite colors! So for $99, you are choosing what you want up to $125 worth of product that retails in value of $190 because Stampin Up is also going to give you a complete starter supplies kit (a $65 value). This kit will be like your invitation cards, order forms, catalogs, etc.  Here is a little photo of basically what I just told ya but if you are interested and decide to join, please join under me!!! I do not have any downlines yet and I would make a great upline to you or anyone else interested in joining me. I am looking for strong, outgoing and fun ladies to join my Stampin Up team! Just email me if you wanna get started!

Hi Jo! Happy Mother's day to you. I have been seeing your posts about Stampin' up's retiring products. I have the design studio and use it quite often but I just found out that they are retiring this. What will happen to my files and software? Am I going to lose them? Thank you in advance. I hope you are having a lovely Mother's day and enjoying your time with your children. (((hugs))) Anne

Hello Anne!!!
I have jumped in the forums to read more about this because I have heard alot of people taking interest and concern with the My design studio software. As far as I know, it is being retired but I have been told that whichever files you currently have, you will be able to keep and continue to use. I was informed that you will still be able to purchase individual files to download for the design studio  but people will not be able to purchase the entire program anymore. So Stampin Up will be offering artwork files for sale still for an individual price like they have been, but just not the design studio software. You will still be able to use yours and whichever files or art you currently have in your library. I hope this helps. :)

Okay so now that I have answered a few questions, I would like to share a card with you that I made for my mom for Mother's day. My mom lives with me but she has been away at my sister's house for the past month in a half visiting with the other grandbabies and such. She won't be home until Memorial day so I had some extra time to create her card, which is why I was not able to share it earlier. So I figured I would share it today. Here it is.

Everything that I used for this card is mainly from Stampin Up.
I used Calypso coral cardstock for my card base and Bermuda Bay cardstock for my layer. Each layer is 1/8" apart from each other. For my main front layers (for outside and inside of card), I used my Georgia Pacific cardstock and decided to do a watercolor wash. I used the following inks to create a soft, subtle watercolor background to start off with, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, and Crisp Cantaloupe.

Once I let the layers dry, I came back to start creating the main layer. I wanted something that would be beautiful and so I decided to grab my Flower Patch stamp set. I stamped the largest and smallest flowers with the Calypso coral, the medium flowers in the Bermuda Bay and the second to the smallest in Crisp Cantaloupe. I made sure to stamp off the paper as well to make it look like a true patterned paper. The leaves were stamped with Garden Green ink. This stamp set also coordinates with the Flower Fair Framelits Dies but I chose not to use them this time around. I wanted the look of patterned paper versus popped up flowers. I inked up the sentiment (also from the Flower Patch stamp set) in momento tuxedo black ink. I really loved this sentiment because I do think that my mom is pretty awesome :)

So to finish up the front of the card, I added a few pearls from my stash and some Calypso coral seam binding . Moving into the inside of the card, I let the watercolors dry and then decided to pull out an older stamp set called Tucked in: Mother by PaperTrey Ink. This stamp set is just perfect for what I wanted to say to my mom and I knew I had it to use it. I stamped it in the momento tuxedo black ink and then added some more of the pearls to kind of tie the entire card together. Here is a closer look at the inside sentiment.....I sure hope my mom likes this card!!!

Well my friends, thank you for stopping by and having a look. I do appreciate your comments and look forward to your lovely emails.

Until next time, Enjoy life's blessings~
